We hope this email finds you, your families, and customers safe and unaffected by Hurricane Delta.
As Hurricane Delta approaches, we'd like to update you on the status of Hurricane Laura's claims. We are approximately 45 days out from Hurricane Laura’s landfall; we wanted to share some learnings from our claims department.
Thus far, approximately 60% of our impacted insureds have received payment under their Coverage A. To issue payments as soon as possible, our claims team continues to work Sunday through Saturday. As we review our open claim counts, we noticed they are remaining open longer than typical. We attribute this to the extent of damage a storm of Laura’s magnitude leaves behind coupled with increased demand for materials, labor, and the need for ongoing coverages such as Additional Living Expenses and/or Recoverable Depreciation. As you review your loss reports, keep in mind these Laura claims will remain open longer than a typical claim.
You may also hear from customers that their Bankers adjuster keeps changing. Please note Bankers utilizes a workflow that requires handoffs between adjusters as a claim progresses through the various stages. Ultimately this provides for a more timely triage of the loss and resolution of the claim. We point this out because we don’t want to add any undue concerns to you or your customers during this already stressful time.
